Intuitive sound and light controller
An music interface created to create, control and morph music. Musicians using the interface don’t have to press buttons or keys. Just by moving their hands around the Pyramid they can modify various sound parameters as well as image in 3 dimensional space.
Computers tend to be sensory deprived, in contrast to physical traditional instruments. One can find it hard to intuitively apply dynamics to making digital computer music. On the other hand computers do offer lots of possibilities and flexibility. This interface tries to build a bridge between these two worlds.
Light sensitive resistors connected to an Arduino generate input used by Processing, which modifies both sound and image. Classical music is played, which is morphed by a granulator, distortion and a delay. This morphs the music towards electronic noise.
This project was created during my study while being part of the wonderful Raw Shaping Society.
